“You will eat everything! is Chef Gio’s promise. Authentic Spanish paella is a 3-generation tradition in Chef Gio’s family. Actually, we believe the paella recipes passed down from Chef Gio’s Spanish-Cuban grandmother, date back over 200 years.

Chef Gio relates that, “As a young boy I fondly remember the aroma of real Spanish saffron cooking up in my grandmother’s kitchen. As I grew up I also recall her being quite secretive about both where she stored her treasured saffron and how she used it as a spice and coloring for her extraordinarily delicious paellas. Later on I learned that saffron has long been one of the world’s costliest spices by weight. Later still, my mother and I would use my grandmother’s handwritten paella recipes, with her special instructional notes, as we strived to replicate our family’s original paellas.” When my mother and I immigrated from Cuba, it was our paellas that, literally put food on our tables, as we began, what today is, ‘El Rey de la Paella.’”

El Rey de la Paella is arguably the best-known paella maker in the southeast United States and possibly beyond. This is because for over twenty years we have always remained true to grandmother’s and mom’s “Paella Principles,” which includes, use only the finest, authentic saffron from Spain. Although most of the world’s saffron is now cultivated in the middle east, the Spaniards are still the best buyers of saffron for use in paellas. We refuse to degrade our paellas by using anything less than premium ingredients for all of the different types of paellas that are our specialty. From the freshest, juiciest and tender lobster in our Seafood Paella, to the best chorizo we can import for our Meat-Lovers Paella.

El Rey de la Paella cooks your paella “Live.” Our highly-trained Paella Chef comes fully equipped to prepare your paella, on-site at your event. Whether it’s a home party, a social or business event, or as a “Paella Station” as part of a larger event, your guest will enjoy one of the world’s best paellas, piping hot, plated directly from our “paellera.”
